Poster Dogme 03
Movie poster for the film Festen
A series of movie posters for the Danish movie Festen (The Celebration) by Thomas Vinterberg. Like the original film, these posters were created following a strict set of Dogme rules, forcing you to think creatively. The rules was declared in a Vow Of Chastity. You can read the Poster Dogme Rules below.
- Typography can not be added afterwards, it must be included in the photograph.
- Special lighting is not acceptable, the photograph must be shot with the native light conditions on location.
- The camera must be hand-held.
Furthermore I swear as a designer to refrain from my personal taste! I am no longer an artist. My supreme goal is to force the truth out of my characters and settings, and communicating the message of the poster as truly as possible. I swear to do so by all the means available and at the cost of any good taste and any aesthetic considerations. Thus I make my VOW OF CHASTITY.”

The Vow Of Chastity
Inspired by the Dogme95 rules created by Lars Von Trier and Thommas Vinterberg 1995
“I Swear to submit to the following set of rules drawn up and confirmed by posterDOGME03
- The poster must take the form of a colour photograph
- Shooting must be done on location. Props and sets must not be brought in.
- The photograph should preferably be shot on a 35mm film, imitating the truth as close as possible. But considering the fact that most of the dogme films was shot with a DV camera, digital cameras are allowed as well in order to mimic the visual appearance of the dogme films.
- Optical work and filters are forbidden. Hence no digital post-production is allowed. Colour correction, digital or in the darkroom, is only allowed to the extent of imitating the actual colours and light conditions, at the time of the shooting.
